P. Allen Smith, well known author and host of the new PBS series P. Allen Smith's Garden Home, will be the featured speaker at a gardening field day Saturday, Sept. 11, at St. Louis Community College-Meramec.

"Gardener's Field Day - New Ways to Look at Gardens and Gardening" will be conducted 9 a.m.-2 p.m. on campus, 11333 Big Bend Road. Meramec's horticulture department and the Horticulture Co-op of Metro St. Louis cosponsor the event.

Smith will offer gardening tips and discuss his book, Secrets to Creating Your Own Garden Home: P. Allen Smith's 12 Principles of Design," 9-10:30 a.m. in the theater. A book signing will be conducted after the lecture.
