Family Support Network was honored with the proclamation for providing therapy to the St. Louis area, free of charge, to 2,998 individuals and 1,304 families in 2003. To recognize March as Parenting Awareness Month, FSN has partnered with KSDK Channel 5 to provide parenting tips every Friday between 12:30 and 1:00 pm as part of their noon newscast. First Place Winner's School Will Win $250 in Art Supplies from Art Mart 

DEADLINE FOR ENTRY IS APRIL 2, 2004

Webster groves, MO (March 5, 2004) First through fourth grade students in St. Louis City and St. Louis County are invited to participate in Family Support Network's (FSN) Every Child Needs a Hero Poster Contest sponsored in conjunction with FSN's Every Child Needs a Hero gala.

To enter the contest, students are asked to draw a picture depicting their hero. Along with the picture, each student must include a paragraph, 50 words or less, explaining why the person is their hero, detailing the positive characteristics this person has brought to their life or community. First, second and third place individual winners will be chosen and the first place winner's school will receive $250 in art supplies donated by Art Mart located at 2355 South Hanley Road in St. Louis. Art Mart donated the art supplies as part of their outreach program to promote art activities throughout the St. Louis area.

The first place winner will receive their award at the Every Child Needs a Hero gala scheduled for Sat., April 17 at the Missouri Athletic Club located at 405 Washington. The event will feature cocktails, dinner, a silent and oral auction and entertainment provided by the Blue Nights of the Gateway Jazz Band. Actor and comedian Joe Marlotti will serve as master of ceremonies and will present the first place winner, their hero and the parents or guardian of the winner with the first place award. In addition to being a guest of honor at the event, the first place winner will receive two tickets to Six Flags, two admission passes to The Magic House, a $50 gift certificate to Slackers CD's and Games and $10 gift certificate to Ted Drewes Frozen Custard. Second place receives two tickets to Six Flags, two admission passes to The Magic House, a $25 gift certificate to Slackers CD's and Games and a $10 gift certificate to Ted Drewes. Third place receives two tickets to Six Flags, a $25 gift certificate to Slackers CD's and Games and a $5 gift certificate to Ted Drewes.

All entries must be turned into FSN no later than 4 p.m. on Friday, April 2. Winners will be chosen and notified on Monday, April 5. Entries can be mailed to Family Support Network, Attention Poster Contest, 29 North Gore, St. Louis, Mo. 63119. All entries must be submitted on 8 = x 11 paper or larger, 8 = x 11 is preferred. Entries can be drawn in crayon, colored pencil or any art supply that the child has access to. All entries must include a 50 words or less paragraph explaining why the person drawn is the student's hero. Paragraphs will be judged more strongly on content than on grammar and punctuation. All entries must 
include the following information on the back of the poster: the student's first and last name, student's street address, student's city, state, zip, student's home phone or contact number, student's school name, address and phone number, student's grade and name of the teacher that asked the student to participate in the contest. Each person or class can submit as many entries as they like. Posters will not be returned following entry and become the property of FSN. Entries may be used in FSN's holiday cards or other promotional items for FSN. 

In addition to inviting children to participate in the poster contest, FSN invites individuals and companies to sponsor and attend the Every Child Needs a Hero Gala. FSN is still seeking many different levels of sponsorship, including the $30,000 Hero or Title sponsorship as well as individual ticket sales and items for the silent and oral auction. Tickets, sponsorships and donations for the silent auction for the Every Child Needs a Hero gala can be purchased or donated by calling 314-963-1450.
