說明:劉麗容教授畢業於台灣大學,獲有南伊大、密西根大學語言碩士學位和聖地牙哥大學語言及文化教育博士學位,是一位語言、教育、多元文化溝通專業學者,發表過相當多之專業論文,並著有多本相關書籍,多次應邀至全美和世界各地巡迴演講多元文化、語言教育、跨文化發展,此次非常難得應美華協會之邀到聖路易地區演講,歡迎各界人士參加,協辦單位布希酒廠當天將提供早餐招待。
Li-Rong Lilly Cheng 劉麗容
Dr. Cheng is Professor in the School of Speech, Language, and Hearing
Sciences at San Diego State University and the Executive Director
of Chinese Study Institute. She was the past president of the International
Affairs Association, a related professional organization of ASHA.
She is also a fellow of the American Speech-Language Hearing Association
(ASHA). Dr. Cheng is the recipient of the 1997 ASHA Award for special
contributions to Multicultural Affairs. Dr. Cheng is the recipient
of the 2002 Diversity Award from the California Speech & Hearing
Association. Dr. Cheng has numerous publications and has lectured
all over the world.
Dr. Cheng received a bachelor's degree from National Taiwan University,
a master's degree in Linguistics focusing in English as a second
language from Southern Illinois University and a master's in Speech-Language
Pathology from Michigan State University and a doctoral degree in
Speech Language Pathology and Multicultural Education from Claremont
Graduate University and San Diego State University. Dr. Cheng has
researched second language acquisition, language and culture, cross-cultural
communication, and speech-language pathology of the bilingual/multicultural
population. She is native speaker of Mandarin and several Chinese
dialects and is the author of many books in English and Chinese
addressing issues on women, cultures, youth, cross-cultural communication
and communicative disorders. Her latest book entitles “Communication
Disorder across the Life Span” was published June of 2003.
She has written numerous journal articles and is on the editorial
boards of many major professional journals, including CSHA Magazine
(California Speech Hearing Association), Multicultural Perspectives,
IALP: Communicative Disorders Quarterly, 2002, Multicultural Perspectives:
Journal of the National, Association for Multicultural Education,
2002, Journal of Multilingual Communication Disorders, 2001 Communication
Disorders Quarterly, Education Researcher, International Journal
of Bilingualism, Asia Pacific Journal of Speech Language and Hearing,
Global Education, Topics on Language Disorders, Anthropology and
Education Quarterly. Dr. Cheng has coordinated conferences and symposia
on topics ranging from communicative disorders to cross-cultural
communication. She received the National Faculty Award from the
Phi Beta Delta Honor Society for International Scholars in 1996
and was the Dean Rusk speaker at Davidson College.
Her recent keynote addresses include the 2004 Bilingual Language
Conference in Las Vegas; 2004 Language Development Conference in
Bangkok, Thailand; 2003 Language Symposium at the University of
Malta; 2002 ELL Symposium in Frankford, Germany. She has been invited
as a keynote speaker for the 1998 Symposium on Child Language Development
in Dublin, Ireland and 1998 Research Seminar on the Nonspeaking
Child in Turin, Italy. In 1997, Dr. Cheng gave the keynote address
at the California Association for Asian Pacific Bilingual Education
annual convention. In 1998, Dr. Cheng was selected as the speaker
for Australian Tour by Speech Pathology Australia, the national
organization for speech-language pathology in Australia. In May
of 1999, Professor Cheng gave a keynote at the Shanghai Symposium
on Child Language at Shanghai Children's Medical Center. In August
of 1999, Dr. Cheng was invited to speak at the 75th anniversary
Symposium of IALP in Goteborg, Sweden. She was the keynote speaker
for the 1999 ASHA School conference. She was also the keynote speaker
for the America Read Challenge, an initiative of the White House.
She is a consultant for Children's Workshop, the Sesame Street.
