New Private School Extends Birthday Cutoff to Sept. 15
WILDWOOD, MO. - Andrews Academy in Wildwood has extended the birthday cut-off date to September 15 for children entering the first grade.

First grade is currently in full operation for the 2005-06 school year and will accept additional applicants who are age six on or before September 15th. The school, located at 16554 Clayton Road, will increase by one grade level per year until sixth grade.

The Wildwood school is modeled on the same core principles of excellence developed at the Andrews Academy~Creve Coeur campus more than a quarter-century ago. Those principles are respect for the individual child, a thorough understanding of basic concepts and the encouragement of independent thinking.

"We are expanding our tradition of excellence to the Wildwood area," Headmaster Joe Patterson said. "Our aim is to maximize a child's intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development through our advanced curriculum and low
student-teacher ratio." The ratio being established at the Wildwood campus is ten students to two classroom teachers.

Huge numbers of the St. Louis area children are alumni of Andrews Academy, a not-for-profit, non-sectarian private elementary school. The program was founded in 1979 to satisfy the need for an alternative approach to existing schools, explains Patterson.
