The Chinese American Community in St. Louis has formed a coalition for a coordinated effort to help Katrina victims.

The coalition has been initiated by Dr. William K. Y. Tao - Trustee Emeritus of Washington University and a founding member of OCA.

We are one of the twelve organizations that have responded to the Coalition. The Coalition met last Friday. Each participating organization is now conducting its own campaign to collect donations. You will be contacted by OCA officers to ask for your help during the next two weeks. Please respond positively and favorably to the caller and compliment her/him for making an effort to reach out to you.

The Coalition will also discuss how to make the Chinese Community better prepared physically and mentally for a natural disaster in our area, such as a major earthquake. We will keep you updated on the progress. After Hurricane Katrina, I believe most of us now believe a natural disaster in grand scale could happen anywhere at any time.

OCA St. Louis has always been in the forefront to extend our helping hand when the community or the nation needs help. I hope every one of us will actively participate in this campaign and generously send your donation to
