KDHX and Tivoli Theatre to Sponsor Benefit for Staff Members of Broadcast Outlets
Affected by Hurricane Katrina in Southeast
ST. LOUIS- KDHX TV and Landmark's Tivoli Theatre have teamed to sponsor a benefit to help the staff and volunteers of community and public radio stations in hurricane disaster areas rebuild and get back on the air.

On Thursday, September 22nd beginning at 9 PM, patrons will view an entertaining selection of films produced during this year's 48-Hour Film Project. The creators of the 48-Hour Film Project have produced a traveling showcase of films that were produced in 32 cities during the past summer. Admission to the film showcase is $8.

"Many of the folks who work in public and community broadcasting in the gulf region are without homes, personal belongings and many of the resources we routinely take for granted. This is our way of trying to help them get through these trying times and let them know that we care about their plight," said Bev Hacker, Executive Director of KDHX.

The 48-Hour Film Project challenges filmmaking teams to write, edit, act and shoot a movie...all in just 48 hours.

"Following the St. Louis competition, films were screened at the Pageant before packed audiences on two nights. We anticipate film buffs will take this opportunity to see some of the nationally produced films and assist our public broadcasting colleagues," said Doug Whyte, Film and Media Arts Director for KDHX.

KDHX TV and the Tivoli Theatre will donate 100 percent of the proceeds to a hurricane relief fund for public broadcasting staff members and their families.
