「2005年台灣農業貿易赴美友好訪問團」一行七人，由台灣區雜糧發展基金會董事長總統府國策顧問陳希煌博士率團，團員包括台灣區飼料工業同業公會與台灣區植物油煉製工業同業公會人士以及政府代表等，於九月二十日至二十二日訪問密蘇里州。
21日下午，在密州州長Matt Blunt及中華民國駐堪薩斯辦事處處長陳家坤共同見證下，與美方簽訂採購聯合聲明，21日晚間陳家坤處長在聖市湖南園餐廳設宴歡迎友好訪問團之來訪並與此間僑學同胞會面。

密州州長Matt Blunt與陳希煌團長互贈禮物
台灣多年來為美國農產品海外十大市場之一，名列美國黃豆第四大買主、美國玉米雜糧第三大買主，就美國農產品個人平均消費量而言並居全球第二位。美國玉米協會及全美黃豆協會均熱烈歡迎台灣農訪團之來訪。
台灣區飼料工業同業公會與台灣區植物油煉製工業同業公會代表與美國玉米協會及全美黃豆協會代表於九月二十一日下午於密州州政府大廈簽訂「聯合聲明」，表明2006至2007年間將持續向美國購買玉米1000萬公噸、黃豆280萬公噸。簽字儀式由密蘇里州州長Matt
Blunt及駐堪薩斯台北經濟文化辦事處陳處長家坤一同見證，密州各界應邀參加聯合聲明之簽約儀式觀禮，密州政府並安排記者採訪。
農訪團在密蘇里州期間並拜會設於聖路易地區之「美國玉米農協會」(American Corn Growers Association）、參觀傑佛遜市附近地區之Kelly
Forck 農莊、孟山都農業生化科技公司、美國著名之Anheuser-Busch啤酒公司以及美國先民開拓西部之紀念拱門Gateway
Arch等處，並會晤旅居密州聖路易地區僑胞。

在21日湖南園之歡迎晚宴中，訪問團團長陳希煌博士致詞表示，好山好水的台灣位於亞洲太平洋地區具不同氣候型之優勢競爭能力，中華民族優秀又活躍，但以前台灣在殖民統治失去優勢，1956年國民政府建立台灣經濟力量，讓人民由貧窮轉為富裕，台灣更成為美國第六大農產品出口國，採購能力高達31億元，我們應要珍惜今天的富裕，感懷過去的努力和成就，團結一致，爭取台灣經濟主體性，繼續努力促進台灣的進一步經濟發展。
我國黃豆訪問團前亦曾於八十七年十月及九十一年五月訪問密蘇里州。希望藉由此次來訪，進一步提升台灣與密蘇里州之雙邊關係。
陳希煌團長曾於2001年率團訪問聖路易參加「全球農業論壇」當時任職行政院農業發展委員會主任委員。

總團長暨黃豆玉米分團團長、台灣區雜糧發展基金會董事長、總統府國策顧問陳希煌先生，台灣區雜糧發展基金會業務組長林義祥先生，台灣區飼料工業同業公會監事會召集人、福壽實業股份有限公司副總經理、玉米意向書及聯合聲明我方簽署人王漢業先生，台灣區飼料工業同業公會副總幹事黃文郁先生，台灣區植物油煉製工業同業公會監事吳崇豪先生，台灣區植物油煉製工業同業公會業務組長、愛州及密州聯合聲明我方簽署人洪澤惠先生，外交部陪同人員陳怡君小姐。
Led by Mr. Hsi-Huang Chen, National Policy Advisor to Taiwan's President,
the 2005 Taiwan Agriculture Trade Goodwill Mission was scheduled
to visit Missouri from September 20 to 22, 2005. Besides Mr. Hsi-Huang
Chen, the Mission has six other members, including representatives
from the Taiwan Vegetable Oil Manufacturers' Association, the Taiwan
Feed Industry Association, and Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Taiwan consistently ranks among the top ten overseas markets
for U.S. agricultural products in general, including the fourth
largest importer for U.S. soybeans; the third largest for U.S.
corn, barley, and sorghum, and the second largest customer of
U.S. agricultural products worldwide in terms of per capita consumption.
Therefore, this visit by the 2005 Taiwan Agricultural Trade Goodwill
Mission is highly valued and warmly welcomed by the National Corn
Growers Association and the American Soybean Association.
Representatives of the Taiwan Vegetable Oil Manufacturers' Association
and the Taiwan Feed Industry Association signed a joint communique
with the American Soybean Association and the National Corn Growers
Association on Wednesday, September 21, 2005 at the Missouri State
Capitol to indicate their intent to buy 7.5 million to 10 million
MT (equivalent to 295 to 394 million bushels) of U.S. corn, and
2.6 million to 2.8 million MT (equivalent to 95.5 to 102.9 million
bushels) of U.S. soybeans during 2006 and 2007. Governor Matt
Blunt and Mr. Jack C. K. Chen, Director-General of the Taipei
Economic and Cultural Office in Kansas City, witnessed the signing.
The Mission also visited the Kelly Forck Farm and the National
Corn Growers Association and tour Monsanto's research facilities
and Anheuser-Busch Brewery in St. Louis. It is hoped that through
the Mission's visit, the close bond of agricultural trade between
Missouri and Taiwan will be further strengthened in the years
to come.
