The Coalition of Chinese-American Community (CCAC) consists of a number of Chinese-American civic, educational and religious organizations specifically formed to respond to the call to aid victims of Hurricane Katrina. Members of this Coalition are listed in the letterhead.

The Coalition does not include business or commerce sectors, nor does it include denominational churches of the Chinese-American community, as those organizations have already conducted their separate fund-raising drives for the same mission. Their contributions have been dispatched to various charities separately.

The Coalition has encouraged individuals of member organizations to contribute through their employers, especially when the work places offer matching fund to further benefit hurricane victims.

The Coalition also encouraged the three Chinese Language Schools to conduct separate fund-raising drives. We are pleased to have several student representatives here to present to you the result of our fund raising drive. We believe these children should have the opportunity to witness the fruits of their hard work and be exposed to the essence of the American way of life.

At the end of their presentation we hope you or your designate will give a brief presentation about the many aspects of your mission and services to the community so that the Chinese community can become better acquainted with The American Red Cross.

Excluding the contribution by individual members elsewhere, we are pleased to let you know that the Coalition has collected in excess of $10,000 for this mission. Our Treasurer, Ms. Wen Hsia, will transfer the exact amount in checks and cash to an officer of Red Cross at the conclusion of this presentation.

On behalf of all member organizations of this Coalition, we wish The American Red Cross of STL continued success in serving our community and beyond, wherever there is a need for humanitarian services.
