| Dear
May Wu,
Thank you for your assistance last Friday providing me with
the Chinese Yellow Pages and current information on Naturalization
translations. This information will definitely help me in my Citizenship
tutoring at Parkway Area AEL. I was especially in need of a good
translation of the Oath of Allegiance. Many citizenship applicants
are not aware that they must read the Oath of Allegiance at their
interview and then explain it in their own words. This is why
the ability to understand, speak, read, and write English is vital
to obtaining US citizenship.
Your Yellow Pages also had an excellent translation of the personal
information questions asked from the revised N400 application.
This will also be very helpful to me especially when working with
lower level students. Please tell your readers that at the interview
they will be asked many questions from their N400 application.
As mentioned above, they will need to read the Oath of Allegiance
and explain it in their own words. They will be asked to write
several sentences dictated to them in English. And of course,
they will be asked about 8 - 10 questions from the list of one
hundred on history and government. Most important USCIS wants
to know if the applicant understands the major decision they are
making and their responsibilities as a citizen. Therefore understanding
English is necessary.
Parkway Area Adult Education & Literacy Program offers free
English classes (and citizenship preparation) at many locations
both day and evening. Sites are in Clayton, Maplewood, Hazelwood,
Manchester, and Creve Coeur. Our main office is at 12657 Fee Fee
Road, (314) 415-7063. Visit our website at: http://www.pkwy.k12.mo.us/AEL/.
Thank you again for your kindness.
