ST. LOUIS-Missouri Governor Matt Blunt
today announced Chris Goodson is his choice
to serve on the St. Louis Board of Police
Commissioners.
Goodson, 38, replaces Col. Susan Rollins
who served as board president. Goodson is
a principal at Gilded Age, a real estate
development company, and the president and
owner of the Goodson Company, a provider
of promotional products.
Goodson received a B.A. in Business Administration
and a M.B.A. from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale.
Goodson has been an active promoter of urban
revitalization with service on boards such
as the Land Clearance Redevelopment Authority
and organizations like the Near Southside
Improvement Corporation.
Goodson will join Col. Bart Saracino, Col.
Michael Quinn, Col. Jo Ann Freeman, and
Mayor Francis Slay to make up the five-member
board. Statute calls for a civilian body
made up of the mayor and four appointees
of the governor to govern the St. Louis
Metropolitan Police Department. With the
expiration of Rollins' term, the board will
vote on a new president and vice president.
Members of the board receive the honorary
designation of colonel, even though they
are not commissioned police officers.
"Chris Goodson has a strong passion
for the City of St. Louis and its future,"
Blunt said. "He has given generously
of both his personal and professional time
to improve the quality of life in the city
and I know he will make an excellent addition
to the St. Louis Police Board."
The appointment of Goodson to the St. Louis
Board of Police Commissioners is subject
to Senate confirmation.
