the world at Old Bonhomme Elementary on
Friday, February 25 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
The Old Bonhomme Parent Teacher Association
is sponsoring a Passport Night for students
and their families to promote cultural diversity
within the school and community. Participating
families will enter the school through a
"Customs" registration station
where children will be issued passports
and bags.
These "travelers" will then be
directed to booths where children can collect
a stamp or sticker for each country they
visit and take part in a wide variety of
activities.
The event will include:
* More than 20 entertaining and educational
booths hosted by Old Bonhomme families celebrating
heritage from countries and religions across
the globe including Brazil, Thailand, Kenya,
Scandinavia, Israel, and China.
* A performance by GRUPO ATLANTICO, an
educational, artistic group whose goal is
to teach the history, legends, and traditions
of African, Indian, and Hispanic heritages
from the coast of South America.
* A booth hosted by the International Institute,
non-profit social services agency working
with immigrant families in St. Louis since
1919, where families can learn about volunteer
opportunities to help immigrants become
secure and successful Americans.
* A USO booth in which children may write
letters to service men and women stationed
overseas.
Ladue School District has 3,200 students
