St. Louis County Library Asian Center Has Interesting Programs and
Classes for You!
St. Louis County Library Asian Center invites you to participate our
well-prepared multicultural programs and bilingual Internet classes.
The Asian Center is located in the first floor of St. Louis County
Library Daniel Boone Branch, 300 Clarkson Rd. MO 63011. Please call

classes.

Chinese Zodiac Tales
Come enjoy stories about the adventures of the 12 animals of the
Chinese Zodiac. Children will construct a dancing dragon, and find
out in which Year of the Zodiac they were born. Registration
required. For ages 3-8.
Tuesday, January 24 at 2:00 p.m.
Let's Chat (Book Discussion)
Join us for lively conversation about "A Loyal Character Dancer" by
Qiu, Xiaolong, a Chinese author living in St. Louis County. We will
share the adventures of an attractive female U.S. Marshall as she
and the Chief Inspector of the Shanghai Police Department strive to
avert an international incident. Exciting excerpts from a travel
video featuring places mentioned in the book and refreshments will

Chinese New Year Celebration
Come and celebrate the year of the Dog. We will make festive
lanterns. Make a decorative dragon for marching in a parade. Try a
fortune cookie and see if you can use chopsticks.

Introduction to the Internet
This class will be conducted in both English and Chinese languages.
You will learn the terms and features of the Internet, explore
interesting English and Chinese websites, and learn how to search
the Internet through Google and Yahoo search engines. Registration
required.
Wednesday, January 25 at 10:00 - 12:00 noon
Intermediate Internet
This class will be conducted in both English and Chinese languages.
You will learn the advanced features of the Internet Explorer, such
as Favorites, Internet Options, Shortcuts, etc. You will also learn
how to use the information and imagines from the Internet more
effectively for your personal interest. Registration required.
Wednesday, January 25 at 7:00p.m.
Origami
It's a bird! It's a frog! It's origami! Learn how to make birds,
frogs, and other creatures in this origami class. Materials will be
supplied. Registration required. For ages 5 - 12.
Thursday, January 26 at 10:00 - 12:00 noon
Library Catalog
This class will be conducted in both English and Chinese languages.
You will learn how to use the St. Louis County Library's Online
Catalog to look up library materials including everything in the
Asian Center in many different ways, and how to manage your library
account. Registration required.
Friday, January 27 10:00 - 12:00 noon
Qikan Chinese Periodical Database
This class will be conducted in both English and Chinese languages.
You will learn how to explore and search over 500 popular Chinese
magazines through Qikan database. Come enjoy this wonderful
e-magazine database! Registration required.
