聖路易斯希望工程2006新年聚餐獻愛心

親愛的希望工程贊助者和有愛心的朋友們:

        聖路易斯希望工程邀請大家于1月21號6點在福樂園（Joy Luck Buffet）2006新年聚餐。我們非常感謝我們有愛心的捐助者﹐也很歡迎有新的捐助者參加我們這次活動。

        五十美金就能改變一個孩子的一生﹐是一件多麼有意義的事情啊﹗由於大家(華人和美國朋友)慷慨的贊助﹐及踴躍的捐款﹐聖路易斯希望工程有了意想不到的收穫。在此我們非常高興的告訴大家﹐到現在為止﹐（12/2005）我們所獲得的捐款。我們收到了$7800捐款能夠幫助160名貧困學生重返校園一年的費用。這個數目跟去年比起來﹐有了120％的增長。你們連續的和有愛心的支持﹐是對我們聖路易斯希望工程自1999年起最大的支持。

        聖路易斯希望工程是由曾經赴中國參觀旅遊的一些聖路易斯社區大學的教職員工發起。僅五十美金就可以讓一個學生回校學習一年。希望工程開始于很少的贊助者和微薄的捐款﹐至今發展到近一百多人﹐八千美金的捐款。完全是由於你們的愛心與支持。

       現在我們很榮幸的跟你們分享一些在贊助過程中感人的故事。首先我們要感謝聖路易斯時報的主編岳方濟先生和世界日報的金能爾記者﹐在他們的大力宣傳報道以後﹐很多來自外州的朋友也熱心的參與了這項公益活動。他們為那些因為經濟原因而就要輟學的學生帶來了光明和希望。

       來自現代中文學校的張岳平女士﹐向她所教的班級解釋了這項活動﹐該班的每個學生捐出幾美金﹐決定贊助一名貧困學生重返校園。該班崔菡琦學生的家長被深深的感動﹐決定另外以他們家庭的名義幫助一名貧困學生。張岳平女士也私人捐助了兩名貧困學生。

        來自紐約的Steven Kauder, Adrianne Kauder夫婦,在她父親去世時收到了她一些朋友的基金﹐她通過報紙知道了這項活動以後﹐也捐出了她所有收到的基金。她用這種有意義有愛心的方式幫助中國失學的兒童。這是一個多麼美好的方式來紀念她的父親啊﹗Alva and Marcia Lee的家庭和他的孩子決定將用來買聖誕禮物的錢﹐捐給聖路易斯希望工程。他們用了一個簡單而又有意義的方式度過了一個特別的聖誕節。來自于密蘇里州哥倫比亞的胡春華先生兩次寄來支票來支持我們的希望工程。在美國這些有愛心華人及美國朋友的影響下﹐我們第一次吸引了來自中國的贊助者:張劍波先生是湖南涉外經濟學院的董事長。他保證以我們在聖路易斯收到所有贊助的捐款的兩倍的數目去贊助更多的失學兒童重返校園。

Dear Hope Project Sponsors and Friends:

Happy holidays!

       I am sending this letter to invite all of you to join our Hope Project Celebration at 6:00pm on January 21, 2006 in Joy Luck Buffet Restaurant, 8030 Manchester Road (314-645-9982).

      St. Louis-China Hope Project, established in 1999 by Margaret Johnson and Grace Liu, who traveled to China with a group from St. Louis Community College, is sponsored by St. Louis Chinese Association and St. Louis Chinese American News. The Project is to help poor children in China go back to school since their families suffer from poverty or tragedies. Many children in China, especially girls, can not continue attending schools. Many of them have to work in factories or fields along their parents' sides. By giving $50, we can assist one child staying in school for a whole year.

       Over the past few years, St. Louis Hope Project has sponsored close to 500 children in China. Recently, two of these students went to colleges. Other than money, Hope shipped more than 100 boxes of books to China for students and schools. Currently, Hope is extending its efforts, and we have received help from St. Louis, Hong Kong, Greece, UMC and also Ohio. We also found a sponsor in China, who will match our funds. In 2005, we collected about $3,800 to support students, which is our record!!! These generous donations will not only make a difference in the students' life, but may well change someone's life forever.

      This year, we are in the process of forming a Hope Project Committee and a Hope Project Board. If you want to volunteer to serve on the committee, please let me know. We would like to maximize the amount we collect by inviting more sponsors. Please make copies of this letter and give it to your friends that you think might join us in our effort.
