Appreciation to participants of 2006 Chinese New Year
Celebration
By Grace Liu, President
The Board of Directors of St. Louis Chinese Association
Dear Friends;
St. Louis Chinese Association was very pleased to have
the opportunity to have organized 2006 Chinese New Year
Celebration at St. Louis Community College at Forest
Park on January 28, 2006 with approximately close to
1,000 people in attendance.
We would like to express our great appreciation to all
of you, either as a volunteer or as a participant of the
Celebration of 2006 Chinese New Year. Your remarkable
contribution, support, service, and attendance made this
event very successful. During the welcoming ceremony of
the event, Mr. Charlie Dooley proclaimed the Chinese New
Year's Day as St. Louis Chinese Culture Recognition Day.
We thank Mr. Dooley with our deep gratitude for this
important recognition of Chinese Culture. This official
recognition certainly adds an American spirit in our new
year's festivity.
The proclamation of the Chinese Culture Recognition Day
by Mr. Charlie Dooley, the County Executive, the
Congratulation Letter from Ms. Robin Carnahan, Secretary
of the State, the attendance of Maria Chappelle Nadal, a
State Representative, and the welcoming by Dr. Henry
Shannon, Chancellor of St. Louis Community College, made
this event very special and marked the significance of
this year's success.
Participants of the event enjoyed Chinese food, an
excellent stage show, the video tape of the 2006 New
Year's Celebration from China, children's programs,
Karaoke, and dancing. The success of the event is
credited to the teamwork of the St. Louis Chinese
community. Many organizations joined us in sponsoring
the event: St. Louis Community College, St. Louis Modern
Chinese School, the Overseas Chinese Association (St.
Louis Chapter), St. Louis Chinese Language School, St.
Louis FCC, Chinese Student Association of Washington
University, and Pin Zhen Yuan Restaurant. Our heartfelt
thanks specially go to many organizations and
individuals with financial support. In addition, St.
Louis Community College provided excellent facilities.
Many individuals prepared and presented excellent and
artistic performances and programs from local and from
Chicago. People loved the Show. You are the Chinese
Culture ambassadors. We are also grateful for the news
reports from St. Louis Chinese American News for its
continuous coverage of our yearly activities. Without
your support, it would be impossible to have this
success.
St. Louis Chinese Association (SLCA) is a non-profit,
non-governmental, and non-political organization. It is
formed by Chinese individuals who live in the greater
St. Louis area. This event symbolized the unity of the
St. Louis Chinese community and the harmony of our
community with the US society, which is the primary
purpose of our organization: to promote the
understanding and friendship between the Chinese
community and the American society. We appreciate your
efforts in supporting St. Louis Chinese Association in
this important undertaking.
In the new year, we would like to continue our teamwork
together with all Chinese organizations and individuals
in the community. Your support would be greatly
appreciated. We wish all of you a happy, healthy, and
wealthy new year! |
