OCA Announces Applications for Summer Internship Program

Washington, DC - OCA announces that applications for the 2006 OCA Summer Internship Program are now being accepted. As a national organization dedicated to advancing the social, political, and economic well-being of Asian Pacific Americans, OCA strives to cultivate future leadership by providing opportunities for Asian American to participate in the political process, OCA offers several summer internships in Washington, DC to college students interested in public affairs.

        The National Internship places students in the OCA National Office to work on the many functions mandated by OCA’s mission including but not limited to scholarship services, communications and public relations, and technical support. The Congressional Internship gives students the chance to participate in the legislative process while working in a congressional office. The Government Internship allows students to work in a federal agency and learn about policy-making and The Development Internship gives students the chance to work on fundraising for a national civil rights organization.

        "OCA is proud to be able to provide opportunities to young women and men," said OCA National President Ginny Gong. "OCA is tremendously grateful to those who donated money to the OCA Internship Fund to make the internship program possible."

        "The OCA Summer Internship Program has grown remarkably in the past decade and has served as a training ground for college leaders who have potential to bring about real change in society," said OCA Executive Director Dorothy Wong. Past interns have gone on to become OCA National Office staff members, chair of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus, and active members in their community after college.
