OCA Humanitarian AwardSt. Louis Christian Chinese Community Service Center

The St. Louis Christian Chinese Community Service Center was incorporated as a non-profit organization in April, 2003. The Center is committed to provide health and social services to the community based on the Christian spirit of love and care. Such services include health clinic, legal clinic, immigration information, naturalization preparation, various social services, activities for the seniors, interpretation, English classes, computer classes, counseling and tax filing.

The center now has two voluntary medical doctors, two voluntary nurses, two voluntary immigration attorneys, and a host of volunteers. The Center hired their first full-time social worker in January, 2004. The services are open to all ethnic groups, even though the main target population is the Chinese. Within the past three years, the Center has served over 1,400 unduplicated clients, and the number of clients is growing.

The Center is financially supported by generous individuals in the community, charitable organizations, foundations, local industries, churches, and grants. The founding principle of the Center is based on a Biblical verse, Matthew 25:40: "Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me." The services provided by the Center will grow in scope and in depth. Will you join this loving, caring and servant-hearted team?
