Friday, April 13 The City of Richmond Heights featured the opening of the exhibition Asian Artists in America featuring works by artists Jimmy Liu, Weimin Xu and I-Hsung Tsai. The artwork represented in the exhibit includes Paintings, Drawings and Printmaking by some of our top Asian artists residing in the St. Louis region.
Artist Jimmy Liu, a native of Taiwan, presented a selection of drawings and paintings depicting a variety of themes and compositions inspired by experiences in the US and of Chinese culture. Liu's work is inspired by the Chinese Yi Sing style. He is best known for his ceramic teapots, his technical expertise and his masterful approach to creating unique and whimsical works of his imagination. This creative spirit is evident in his paintings and pastel drawings as well. Liu has won numerous awards and is a master of his art - presenting his works with a clever and fresh approach.
Works by visiting artist, Weimin Xu feature extraordinary scenes from China and calligraphy. Xu is a visiting artist from China and an accomplished artist and teaches traditions of Chinese art in China and the United States. I-Hsung Tsai specializes in printmaking.
Over the past several years, Richmond Heights has been integrating art into the environment through a wide variety of displays at The Heights, the City's community center at 8001 Dale Avenue as part of their Public Art Master Plan to incorporate the arts and culture into the community.
