【時報訊】創校十年有成，聖路易現代中文學校9月23日下午六時，在聖市Two Heart Banquet Center at Sunset Hill 宴會中心舉行十週年校慶晚宴及舞會，邀得聖路易郡郡長代表Joanne Gladney女士，偉伯斯特大學即將成立之孔子學院代表Debbie Pierce博士，聖路易僑界大家長陶光業博士等貴賓蒞臨致賀，學校教職員、家長近二百人與會同慶。由當初1997年五個家庭籌劃創立學校只有42名學生開始，到目前2007年，學校學生人數超過400人。教職員義工超過50人，教務蒸蒸日上，校譽與日俱增，現代中文學校創校十年，成績有目共睹。郡長代表Joanne Gladney女士致詞時表示，欣見現代中文學校之創立和成長，現代中文學校豐富了聖路易多元文化內涵和資產，偉伯斯特大學Debbie Pierce博士讚佩現代中文學校教學成果和維護文化傳統的執著毅力，偉伯斯特大學孔子學院將和現代中文學校攜手共同努力，做好中文之教育，推廣漢語，邁向世界潮流。
聖路易現代中文學校十週年校慶晚宴以王水平博士主持之創校十週年回顧影片展開始，介紹該校十年來一步一腳印成長歷程，晚宴由鄺衡、羅春生以中英雙聲帶共同主持，以感性的心情說出中文學校希望有一棟屬於自己的學校校舍，這個代表著大家心聲的願望獲得全場掌聲支持和鼓勵。
晚宴後，現代中文學校校長杜文征、校董主席朱一民共同以幻燈片方式向在座來賓介紹現代中文學校教學課程概況及行政組織，展現現代中文學校厚實的建校基礎，接著舉行頒獎，分別頒發傑出服務獎予張樹芳，屆滿五年教學獎予張青根、馬振菊、王阿蓮等三位老師，及開拓先鋒獎予五個當時創校的家庭，他們是許曉藍/王水平，張維/劉景松，張樹芳/王志強，顧宇瑾/朱安寧，張東紅/羅春生夫婦，由於他們有著在海外弘揚簡體字中文教學之遠見和傳承中華文化之抱負，促成了現代中文學校的誕生。
晚宴中同時安排有數項精彩之表演節目，包括歌唱冠軍胡彤精彩獨唱，鐘群飛改編歌詞「憶往昔」吉他演唱，郭獻中爆笑單口相聲，使得整個晚宴進行得活潑生動，笑聲掌聲不斷，時值中秋，現代中文學校還準備了三盒應景中秋月餅禮盒，由三位貴賓陶光業博士，Joannne Gladney女士及聖路易中文學校校長胡亞華抽出三位幸運來賓贈獎。
晚宴結束後，熱鬧舞會正式登場，現場樂隊優美旋律裡，來賓翩翩起舞，搖曳生姿，歡樂滿場。
為慶祝現代中文學校創校十週年，該校特別出版「我們的中文學校1997-2007」紀念冊一集，內容收集解碼歷史，細說從前之近三十篇文章，細述成功的喜悅，嘗識的熱情和改革的勇氣，為建校十週年之成長和光榮留下見證，紀念冊首並有聖路易社區，包括郡長Charlie Dooley，社區大學校長Morris Johnson，植物園園長Peter Raven，密蘇里大學國際研究中心主任Joe Glassman，聖路易大學附屬高中戴慶齡博士、密蘇里大學馮鴻璣教授、中國人協會等賀詞，厚達100頁的紀念冊裡還編輯有中華文化經典閱讀篇，增添紀念冊內容和趣味性，這本紀念冊在美國編輯、輸入、校對、設計，在中國完成印刷成冊，再運回美國，為現代中文學校十年有成立下里程碑。

Congratulations on your 10th anniversary. I commend you for your years of service to the community and hope that you have many more to come.
I understand that your teaching of the Chinese language to young people has produced a number of champions in state-wide academic competitions. I am also aware that besides your many scholastic accomplishments, the school plays an active part in the organization of Chinese Culture Day and offers education in martial arts, Chinese folk dancing and Chinese literature as well. I applaud you for bringing knowledge of the intricate language and expansive culture of China to the greater St. Louis area.

Dear Board of Directors for the SLMCS,
Congratulations on your 10th anniversary of St. Louis Modern Chinese School.
In the past 10 years, the school has grown and developed to become one of the best facilities of teaching Chinese language. The school has introduced Chinese cultures and traditions through various school sponsored activities, including the Chinese Culture Days at Botanical Garden, the International Sister City Event, the 150th Anniversary of Washington University and the International Folkfest Day, etc.
The school has made connections between West and East and has advocated unity and diversity. The school has also made tremendous contributions in helping international students and members of the St. Louis community to understand differences between Chinese and other ethnic groups, as well as promoting mutual understanding and tolerance in this multicultural society.
At the mark of the 10th year milestone, I truly thank the school for its effort and contributions to merge the Eastern and Western cultures while educating the diverse St. Louis community.
