【時報訊】連日豪雨造成密蘇里州河川暴漲，洪水泛濫，聖路易以南數郡成為一片汪洋澤國，經由密蘇里州副州長Peter Kinder(州長Matt Blunt當時在中國大陸訪問)及聯邦緊急應變總署(FEMA) 署長R.David Paulison於3月27日共同巡視災區後，州長Matt Blunt、副州長Peter Kinder向聯邦提出災區救濟要求，布希總統28日批准，將密州19個水災災區郡劃為聯邦災區，開設災區區民申請救濟專線1-800-621FEMA接受申請。災民亦可上網查詢www.fema.gov，每戶最高救濟金額28,800元。
經聯邦劃為水災災區的19個郡為： Bollinger, Carter, Christian, Franklin, Greene, Iron, Jasper, Jefferson, Manes, Newton, Oregon, Phelps, Pulaski, Reynolds, St. Francois, Stone, Texas及 Washington郡。.居住在這19郡之居民即日起即可打800號電話登記並接受救助。聯邦救濟金額將視災區災民住屋財產受損情形，屋主收入和投保金額決定，如果災民保有水災險，水災之損失應由保險公司承擔則災民可能無法獲得聯邦救濟。
緊急應變總署署長Paulison表示，該署不能重複發給救濟金額，在處理2005年卡翠納颶風風災時，該署曾受到許多這一方面之責難。19 Mo. counties to receive federal flood assistance密州水災災情嚴重 19郡劃為聯邦災區
President George W. Bush approved Missouri Gov. Matt Blunt and Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder's request for individual assistance for 19 counties impacted by last week's floods.
"I appreciate the quick response by the President to our request for this assistance," Blunt said in a statement. "Many homes were damaged or destroyed in these devastating floods. With the approval of our request, Missourians can begin registering for this financial assistance to recover their personal losses."
Affected Missourians living in the following counties can now register for individual federal assistance: Bollinger, Carter, Christian, Franklin, Greene, Iron, Jasper, Jefferson, Maries, Newton, Oregon, Phelps, Pulaski, Reynolds, St. Francois, Stone, Texas, Washington and Wayne.
Missourians impacted by the flood in these counties can register for assistance by calling 1-800-621-FEMA or visiting www.fema.gov.
