CNN

        Dear Mr. Wolf Blitzer:

I have been a loyal watcher of CNN since its broadcast and enjoyed it.However, gradually I became a disenchanted follower because the station has changed its direction for programming.

The People's Republic of China has earned my respect because its successful economic reform since 1979, which has eliminated over 200 million people from poverty (IMF's estimate), I feel strongly about American news medium's bias in reporting China. Human rights aregenerally used as a shield for their attack justification. As a viewer,I am confused and baffled. What are really human rights? I thought theUN's list of nations for violation of human rights (and the US state Departments' list too, I think) does not include China.

To me, living without hunger is far more worth-while than having total freedom in speech and criticism. To me, to grab the torch from a proud handicapped lady in her wheel chair is a violation of human rights.Your recent report on the protest against the Olympic Torch parade inSan Francisco was an intolerable piece of bias news reports, On the air you kept emphasizing that the group of Chinese who were cheering for the parade were "invited" guests. By who? I guess you were implying that this was a set-up by the human-rights violation government-China. I cantell you that there were many "uninvited" enthusiastic Chinese who were voluntary supporters cheering among that group and at other areas of the parade ground. I also guess that you were implying the protesters were a group of spontaneous and unorganized human rights fighters. But I can also tell you that the protesters were there for other reasons too, such as those who were against China for her support of the government of Burma, and the Tibetan Youth Corp members who were for using violent means to reach their goals.

I hope you and many other reporters like you can be open-minded about China. Read a modern history book of China. Take a study tour to China. Please don't just rely on reading of some comments of other reporter swho were using over two hundred years of American democratic developmental achievements as the norm to quickly judge another nation which they could not even pronounce its capitals' name correctly. China had only about thirty years of struggle to reach the current point. In terms of economic development, social and political improvements, China should be applauded and encouraged, not despised. Calling them a "bunch of goons and thugs" on public medium is nothing but a racial slur. Your fellow network commentator must be doing his shopping only at Wal-Mart, nothing higher than that. He sees nothing but "junk".

The most disappointing thing for me today is not to be able to watch the news from a reliable source such as Walter Cronkite. The only sensible thing to do is to turn off the channels, especially the CNN.

        Thank you for reading this.
