US welcomes 966 new citizens
Citizenship Ceremony Largest in St. Louis History

Saint Louis University's Chaifetz Arena hosted the largest naturalization ceremony in St. Louis history. About 1,000 new U.S. citizens were handed their citizenship certificates after having learned English, mastered American civics, undergone extensive background checks and adapted to a new culture. The majority of the new citizens come from India, Bosnia and China, but more than 100 countries were represented. Many of the new Americans sought U.S. citizenship for work here and to escape wars in their home countries, and many of the new citizens are excited to vote in the November's general election.
