著名歷史學家令狐萍教授，受密蘇里州政府自然資源部邀請，將於2009 年1月25日下午2點在 Scott Joplin House State Historic Site （2658A Delmar，314-340-5790）做題為「世紀之交的聖路易華人社區」的專題演講。著名琵琶演奏家葉麗女士將在演講之後進行精彩琵琶古典音樂演奏。
令狐萍，美國福特基金獎作家。現任美國杜魯門州立大學歷史系教授 (前任系主任),兼任暨南大學客座教授，並任美國亞裔美國研究協會期刊《美國亞裔研究》主編 以及廣東華僑華人研究會海外顧問。令狐萍曾被美國多家電臺采訪，她的研究亦被國際國內多家報章與電臺報導。她經常受邀到國際國內研究機構與高等院校做學術報告或演講。《世界日報周刊》2006 年1 月15 日版 曾刊登有關她的人物專訪， 她也被收錄入國際國內十多種名人錄。
令狐萍長期從事華僑華人、美國亞裔與華裔社會、以及美國亞裔與華裔婦女的研究寫作。出版十多部學術專著，包括 《美國華裔婦女生存奮鬥史》(Surviving on the Gold Mountain: A History of Chinese American Women ) (紐約州立大學出版社，1998)，《金山謠為美國華裔婦女史》(中國社會科學出版社，1999年， 該書獲美國福特基金出版獎)，《萍飄美國為新移民實錄》(山西北岳文藝出版社，2003)，《聖路易的華人》(Chinese St. Louis： From Enclave to Cultural Community， Temple University Press, 2004), 《心聲--美國亞裔婦女史》(Voices of the Heart: Asian American Women on Immigration, Work, and Family, Truman State University, 2007)，《聖路易的華人，1857-2007》(Chinese in St. Louis: A Pictorial History, 1857-2007, Arcadia Publishing, 2007),《崛起的呼聲--受忽視的美國亞裔族群的經歷》(Emerging Voices: Experiences of Underrepresented Asian Americans, Rutgers University Press, 2008)，《亞裔美國歷史文化百科全書》(Asian American History and Culture: An Encyclopedia, M.E. "The Chinese Community in St. Louis at the Turn-of-the-Century" by Dr. Huping Ling
Dr. Huping Ling, Professor of History at Truman States University, is invited to give a lecture on "The Chinese Community in St. Louis at the Turn-of-the-Century" by the Missouri Department of Natural Resource in its "Joplin𠏋 St. Louis" series on Jan. 25, 2009. The lecture starts at 2pm at 2658A Delmar, Scott Joplin House State Historic Site (314-340-5790), followed by live performance of traditional Chinese music by professional Chinese musician Ms. Li Ye. Admission is free to general public.
A renowned scholar on Asian American studies and a prize-winning author, Ling has authored/edited ten books in the field, including Chinese St. Louis: From Enclave to Cultural Community (2004), Chinese in St. Louis, 1857-2007 (2007), Voices of the Heart: Asian American Women on Immigration, Work, and Family (2007), and Emerging Voices: Experiences of Underrepresented Asian Americans (2008). She also serves as Executive Editor of The Journal of Asian American Studies.
