Order Girl Scout Cookies starting January 17
Invest in girls - and your community

It's Girl Scout Cookie time! Beginning Jan. 17 and continuing through Feb. 1, local Girl Scouts will be ringing doorbells across Eastern Missouri. When you answer your door, remember that it's more than a box of cookies - it's a lasting investment in our community.

Cookies are $3.50 per package. New Dulce de Leche cookies, rich with caramel chips and inspired by the classic confections of Latin America, join seven returning flavors: Thin Mints, Samoas, Do-Si-Dos, Tagalongs, Trefoils, Lemon Chalet Cremes and Sugar-Free Chocolate Chips.

Girl Scout Cookies offer that great familiar taste - from the Girl Scout Thin Mint to the Samoa - but they also allow you to help provide funds for the premier leadership program for girls. No other program offers girls so much in developing courage, confidence and character - and it all starts with a box of cookies.

As simple as a cookie is, the snack offers Girl Scouts the funds needed to provide highly touted programming that offers a life-changing experience. All proceeds from cookie sales stay within our community, funding activities of individual troops as well as Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri, including financial assistance for girls to participate in events, program fees, volunteer recruitment and training, and maintenance of three camp properties.

Girl Scout Cookies have been an American tradition for more than 90 years - and for good reason."When you buy a box of Girl Scout Cookies, you know you are supporting the premier leadership program for girls and getting a great tasting product," said Marcia Barber, Chief Executive Officer of Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri. "Like all Girl Scout programs, the cookie activity is girl-driven. Girls make their own decisions and set their own goals with the help of adult volunteers. Cookies are one of the reasons why Girl Scouting is so successful at building leadership."

Girl Scout Cookies are sold door-to-door in Eastern Missouri from Jan. 17 through Feb. 1. From Feb. 25 through March 15, Girl Scout troops will sell cookies at booths set up in area businesses. If you wish to purchase cookies and have not been called upon by Feb. 1, look for cookie booth locations in your community at www.girlscoutsem.org or call Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri at 800-727-4475.

Those who don't wish to purchase cookies for their own consumption still can assist Girl Scouts by making a purchase and donating the cookies to individual troops' Gift of Caring recipients, such as local food pantries and military troops.

Girl Scout Cookies have been a major fundraiser for girls and their troops across Eastern Missouri. The Cookie Program is an integral part of Girl Scouting's business and economic literacy initiative for girls ages 5-17. Girls learn financial responsibility and business proficiency as they develop their personal leadership style. Through the Girl Scout Cookie Activity, girls gain valuable business and life skills, including money management, teamwork, decision-making and goal setting.
