Fontbonne University To Host U.S. Naturalization Ceremony

SAINT LOUIS ?Fontbonne University will host a United States naturalization ceremony on Friday, Oct. 9. The ceremony, which will swear in 108 petitioners from 43 different countries becoming naturalized U.S. citizens, will take place at 11 a.m. in the Mabee Gymnasium of the Dunham Student Activity Center at Fontbonne, 6800 Wydown Blvd., St. Louis.

The naturalization ceremony is one of many events Fontbonne is hosting this fall as part of its third annual dedicated semester, focused this year on Immigrant Experiences. This collaborative initiative encourages the entire university < students, faculty and staff < to explore a single theme each fall semester.

"We chose to host this ceremony because it provides a first-hand glimpse into our dedicated semester theme this year < immigration is such an important and relevant issue in our society," said Jack Luzkow, associate professor of history at Fontbonne, and chair of the fall 9 dedicated semester committee. "And regardless of our backgrounds, all of us can connect and relate to it in one way or another."

Fontbonne University is a Catholic coeducational institution of higher education offering liberal arts and professional programs, as well as accelerated formats for busy adults. Fontbonne was founded in 1923 and is sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet. Visit www.fontbonne.edu/dedicated to learn more.
