Top 20 minority companies recognized

The St. Louis Minority Business Council recognized Thursday the Top 20 Minority Business Enterprise companies across the St. Louis area. The firms were recognized because of their overall business achievement and their continued commitment to diversity within the community.
"Today, we recognize the impact these minority companies make in the development and growth of the St. Louis community. Their business achievements and accomplishments as successful minority businesses benefit the entire region," said James Webb, president and chief executive of the St. Louis Minority Business Council (SLMBC).
The Top 20 Minority Business Enterprise companies will be recognized in December during an event at the Four Seasons Hotel St. Louis.
The SLMBC is one of 39 regional councils affiliated with the National Minority Supplier Development Council. The SLMBC provides ongoing growth opportunities, financial support and training and education for its corporate members and for Minority Business Enterprises.

Ariel Premium Supply, Inc.
Ariel Premium Supply, Inc. was founded in 1993 by current President Tai Lin and Vice President Yuh Ling Lu a husband and wife team. Both are natives of Taiwan and at the time, were attending Washington University in Saint Louis and develpoing their respective research for their Ph.D.; Tai in electrical enginering and Yuh Ling in microbiology. The company was founded to help fund their research activities.
The first company products were imprinted stress relievers. Five product designs were developed for sale in the Promotional Product industry. It soon became apparent their product line filled a much needed niche in the market, and the company prospered. Between 1998 and 2000 Ariel enjoyed major growth as additional stress reliever designs were added and sales were expanded into all 50 states, Canada and several other foreign countries.
At the end of 2006, Ariel is recognized as the world's leading supplier of imprinted stress reliever products with a catalog of over 600 styles. In addition, the company has expanded beyond stress relievers to other types of imprinted products for the home, office, recreation, safety, health and travel. Ariel currently has over 100 employees in a production facility of 180,000 square feet. Ariel products are currently sold through a network of 4,000 promotional product distributors located throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean and Europe.
