A federal budget bill which passed the Senate Thursday night includes $500,000 for St. Louis' efforts to develop a Chinese cargo hub at Lambert International Airport, Sen. Christopher "Kit" Bond said today. It's money which could go a long way towards closing a funding gap that threatens the project. Bond inserted the funds through an earmark in the Commerce, Justice and Science spending bill. A spokeswoman said the Midwest China Hub Commission had requested the money, and that Bond thought it would help kickstart the effort to attract Chinese air cargo carriers and build manufacturing and distribution centers around Lambert.
