Regional Idea? China Project Continues To Move Forward

Some 200 people registered to participate in one of six China Business Council meetings that were held at the RCGA on December 15th and 16th. Several participants came from as far away as Springfield, MO, and Manhattan, KS, in order to become involved in St. Louis regional initiative related to China. Following is a listing of the six specific Councils.

Agribusiness and Nutrition Financial and Professional Services Manufacturing and International Trade Multi-Modal Logistics Management Construction and Real Estate Development Clean Energy and Sustainable Business Practices

Under the auspices of the Midwest China Hub Commission, the RCGA is co-chairing each of these Councils with one of its Commission partners. The Councils have been formed with three distinct objectives in mind: (1) broaden the base of regional knowledge and support for this initiative; (2) catalogue the breadth of business relationships that already exist between the St. Louis area and China; and (3) identify new opportunities for regional trade and backhaul.

These Councils are designed to convene quarterly with the next round of meetings scheduled to occur in March. Specific dates to be announced. For further information on the Councils, please contact Steve Johnson, Senior Vice President for Economic Development at the RCGA at (314) 444-1140, or at sjohnson@stlrcga.org. To register online for one of the Councils, please go to www.stlrcga.org/china.
