First St. Louis Asian-American Heritage Festival, Saturday October 6, 2012

        The Event Hosted by the Asian American Chamber of Commerce of St. Louis Celebrates the Cultures of Chinese, Filipino, Indian, Japanese, Korean, Pacific Islanders, Thai, Vietnamese, Pakistani & Indonesian People & Businesses

        AUGUST 23, St. Louis, Missouri...The St. Louis Asian American Heritage Festival set for Saturday, October 6, 2012, promises a joyous day of colorful amusements, diverse fresh food choices, and a variety of entertainments for children and adults, plus a trade mart showcasing Asian goods and merchandise from many countries.

        Organized by the nonprofit Asian American Chamber of Commerce of St. Louis (http://aaccstl.org), the St. Louis Asian-American Heritage Festival opens at 10 a.m. and continues until 7 p.m. at the intersection of Olive Boulevard and McKnight Road, southwest corner, in the heart of the Asian American business community in St. Louis?suburban University City. Access to the festival is free, and ample parking is available.

        "This first annual St. Louis Asian American Heritage Festival is bringing together scores of vendors in an international trade mart and food court, plus culturally diverse amusements, entertainments and music for all who attend," said Alexander Lee, Chairman of the Asian American Chamber of Commerce of St. Louis. "This will be a great and colorful event for people of all ages and ethnicities."

        "More than 56,000 people who live and work in greater St. Louis and southwestern Illinois are of Chinese, Filipino, Indian, Japanese, Korean, Pacific Island, Thai, Vietnamese, Pakistani and Indonesian backgrounds, according to 2011 U.S. Census data," said Max Tsai, board member and event chairman for the St. Louis Asian American Chamber of Commerce.

        "The St. Louis Asian American Heritage Festival is an opportunity for all peoples of all nationalities to convene, enjoy great food and entertainments and shop for unusual trade goods while meeting and making new friends. We look forward to celebrating a great day!"

        Founded in 2011, the Asian American Chamber of Commerce of St. Louis (AACC), is an "umbrella organization" for Asian American businesses and organizations in greater St. Louis. The AACC serves Asian American businesses in metro St. Louis and includes all Asian American ethnicities. It promotes and supports locally-based Asian American businesses and professionals by providing members with practical information and facilitating positive interactions between its members. AACC also works to build economic cooperation and closer relationships between Asian American and other business communities locally, nationally and internationally.

        "St. Louis is fortunate to be the home of many Asian American people including Chinese, Indian, Korean, Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese, Filipino, Pakistani, Indonesian, and more," said Alexander Lee. "Many of these residents are professionals, business owners, students and long-time residents. While AACC celebrates the uniqueness of each culture, we believe that Asian Americans, like all Americans, share common values and aspirations. AACC seeks to bring all those together for the greatness of the community."
