UMSL, World Trade Center St. Louis Partner for First Online Certificate in International Trade
Unique program prepares busy professionals to do business internationally with knowledge and success, all while affording flexibility and convenience

ST. LOUIS, January 11, 2013-The University of Missouri,
St. Louis (UMSL) Office of International Studies and Programs, in partnership with World Trade Center St. Louis, introduces the first online national Chancellor's Certificate in International Trade.
The program begins March 4, 2013 with the first of six, two-week modules. All of the modules are online, allowing participants to learn at their own pace, and at a time and place that works best for them. After completing the six modules, participants are awarded the UMSL Chancellor's Certificate and will have the credentials to help them and their organizations successfully conduct business in the competitive global marketplace.
"World Trade Center St. Louis has offered international trade courses in a classroom setting before, but this online program is more convenient, more comprehensive and more affordable than what you'll find in the marketplace," said Dennis Wilmsmeyer, board president of World Trade Center St. Louis. "We've partnered with UMSL to bring the program online, offering the flexibility and convenience busy professionals and students need, while providing them with the skills they need to take their business abroad."
The Chancellor's Certificate in International Trade offers a practical curriculum for executives, managers and employees who conduct business or plan to work in international markets. It is a tactical, low-cost, high-quality way to prepare and excel in international business markets. This unique program is offered with assistance from qualified international consultants and professionals at regional companies already engaged in business overseas.
"Online courses provide user-friendly learning opportunities that make our professional development programs even more accessible," said UMSL Chancellor Tom George. "We also are pleased to further our cooperation with World Trade Center St. Louis."
The six modules cover topics including business law, foreign investment, export management, cultural development, regulatory, and customs and compliance issues. Modules are available for two weeks with a break in between each module. All six modules must be completed to earn the Chancellor's Certificate; however, participants may choose to take specific modules separately.
Instructors include Maarten Asser, co-author of "The Global M&A Tango: Cross-Cultural Dimensions of Mergers and Acquisitions"; Noor Azizan-Gardner, assistant deputy chancellor for diversity/chief diversity officer at University of Missouri; David G. Forgue, partner at Barnes/Richardson Global Trade Law and frequent speaker on international trade; Arijana Hoormann, long-term freight forwarder and Certified U.S. Export Compliance Officer; Lawrence Taylor, founder of Aziotics, an international marketing consultant firm specializing in Asian markets; and Paul Toskin, vice president and manager of Commerce Bank's Trade Service Group in St. Louis.
