The biotech industry is expected to be one of the fastest growing employers in St. Louis in coming years, and St. Louis Community College wants its students to be part of that.

The school's Workforce Solution Group is hosting a special workshop on Feb. 4 to bring together civic leaders and industry experts to discuss what kind of skills the biotech sector will need and how St. Louis can provide an educated workforce to meet those demands.

The event will be held at the Bio-Research Development and Growth (BRDG) Park, 1005 N. Warson Road., from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Monday, Feb. 4.

Among the attendees will be Kelly Gillespie, executive director of the Missouri Biotechnology Association; Ben Johnson, director of special projects at BioSTL; Steve Long, St. Louis Community College,  associate vice chancellor for workforce solutions; and Richard Norris, director of the school's Center for Plant and Life Sciences.

Registration for the workshop is $49. To register, contact the St. Louis Community College Continuing Education department at 314-984-7777.
