Saint Louis County Collector of Revenue Mark Devore announces that the 2013 property tax bills are currently being mailed to Saint Louis County property owners. Real property tax bills are mailed prior to personal property tax bills.

Self-addressed courtesy reply envelopes are included for mailing payments. Real property and personal property tax payments may be included on one check and mailed in either of the envelopes.

Payments can also be made at any of the Revenue offices below or online at https://revenue.stlouisco.com/Collection/PayTaxes . If paying online, property owners need to be aware that payments via direct debit from a checking or savings account do not encounter any additional fees. However, credit and debit card payments are processed through a third party provider and are subject to a convenience fee.

During the 2012 tax bill calculations, a small portion of MSD's 2012 tax rate was inadvertently left off of some property owner's tax bills. As a result, MSD did not receive all of the taxes due to them. That error is being corrected on the 2013 tax bill. Property owners affected by the 2012 billing error will see the unbilled portion of MSD's 2012 taxes listed as an additional item, labeled "2012 Omitted MSD Tax".

The amount will be based on the 2012 value of each affected property. For example: On a residential property valued at $100,000 by the Assessor, the unbilled 2012 MSD tax would be approximately $3.53. Personal property taxes based on a car valued by the Assessor at $10,000 in 2012 would result in an additional $0.62 on the 2013 bill.

Anyone with questions about the belated 2012 billing portion should call the Collector of Revenue's office at 314/615-5500.

By law, 2013 property taxes must be paid or postmarked by the United States Postal Service on or before December 31, 2013, to avoid interest and penalties.

Property owners who escrow taxes through their mortgage company and receive a tax bill for real property should contact their mortgage company for instructions.
