St. Louis, April 29, 2014-General Colin L. Powell, USA (Ret), Chairman of Eisenhower Fellowships, announced that the organization is sending nine United States citizens abroad in 2014 as USA Eisenhower Fellows. "Thisgroup of fellows will join a network of outstanding leaders throughout the world and bring with them their own approach and creativity to contribute to a better world. Their impact will be enhanced by their experiencesmeeting with leaders in their respective fields abroad," he said.

Among just nine fellows are two St. Louis professionals ?Tim Nowak, executive director of World Trade Center St. Louis, and Rhonda Broussard, president of St. Louis Language Immersion Schools. Fellows travel on anintensive, four-to-five week, personalized professional program, meeting with experts in business, government, and non-profit institutions in their respective fields.

"We are so fortunate to have two of our rising leaders in St. Louis selected as Eisenhower Fellows," said Edward L. Monser, president & chief operating officer, Emerson. "Both Rhonda and Tim have a strong track record ofachievement and are seen to have high potential for further growth. Their innovation and leadership in education and global business development have already benefitted the St. Louis community. This intensive, individually designed fellowship will help them both focus on their passions and the advancement of St. Louis."

Tim Nowak will be traveling to Malaysia and Indonesia to establish mutually beneficial economic partnerships that increase the international connectivity of our respective communities to expand job growth and economic opportunities for all partners.

"It is our goal as Eisenhower Fellows to achieve consequential outcomes across sectors and borders," said Nowak. "Whether we are in St. Louis hosting international delegations, or are overseas building sustainable,two-way trade relationships, the Eisenhower Fellowship and the impact it has locally and internationally is undoubtedly significant."

Today, just days before Nowak departs on his fellowship travels, World Trade Center St. Louis will host AmCham Indonesia President Arian Ardie and Retired U.S. Senator Christopher "Kit" Bond for a program on doingbusiness in Indonesia. This is a follow up to the MOU signed on a St. Louis trade mission to Indonesia in 2012, outlining ways to collaborate, promote and develop U.S./Indonesia trade and investment.

On Broussard's fellowship to New Zealand and Finland, she will explore models of education, professional development, and accountability practices. She plans to impact the St. Louis community through her design of an immersion teacher residency model. The goal of the residency model is to eradicate the first-year teacher experience in her schools by differentiating coursework, mentorship and supervised teacher training while residents co-teach with a highly effective lead teacher.

"I will be able to identify and address discrepancies in teacher preparation in the U.S., Finland and New Zealand," said Broussard. "Then, enrich the curricular content of our residency coursework."
