ST. LOUIS - State Treasurer Clint Zweifel (ZWY-ful) joined representatives from the Scholarship Foundation of St. Louis to announce a new 529 College Savings Scholarship Program available for area students. Treasurer Zweifel worked with the Scholarship Foundation to develop the program, through which families will receive contributions into MOST 529 accounts matched with incentives for additional contributions.

"Granting access to a quality higher education is the easiest way to ensure our students have the opportunities they deserve when entering the workforce," Treasurer Zweifel said. "I am proud of the work we have done with the Scholarship Foundation to bring the dream of attaining a higher degree within reach for students. I am inspired to see so many organizations recognize the importance of higher education for the children of Missouri and look forward to seeing these programs continue to grow."

The new program, called Future Forward, will deposit $500 into a MOST 529 account for students who enroll. Eighth grade students attending De La Salle or Marian Middle School are eligible, as well as any 8th grade student beginning the Wyman Teen Leadership Program. Following the initial deposit, students will have the chance to earn $100 contributions through each year of high school based on metrics like good grades and good attendance. Finally, the Scholarship Foundation will match parents' contributions to a parent owned-MOST 529 account up to $500.

Treasurer Zweifel launched the MOST 529 Matching Grant Program in 2012 which provides a dollar-for-dollar match up to $500 on a first-come, first served basis. There is $500,000 available for this program over four years. To-date nearly 600 account owners have received more than $250,000 in matched contributions. The success of the MOST 529 Matching Grant Program has inspired multiple non-profit, community and business entities. Treasurer Zweifel continues to work with organizations to create programs providing greater access to postsecondary education. The Scholarship Foundation Future Forward program is the fourth effort in the St. Louis region.

Treasurer Zweifel manages MOST - Missouri's 529 College Savings Plan, and under his management the program has grown to more than $2 billion in assets for more than 170,000 accounts - each an all-time high.
