November 9, 2014-RICKI'S PROMISE (82 minutes) will be screened at the St. Louis International Film Festival on Sunday, November 16 at 4:00PM at the Center for Global Citizenship, St. Louis University (221 N Grand Blvd, St Louis, MO 63103), and on Monday, November 17 at 8:30PM at Plaza Frontenac (1701 S Lindbergh Blvd, St Louis, MO 63131).

The film follows the journey of an 18-year-old adoptee, Ricki Mudd, as she returns to China to live with her long-lost birth parents for a summer after finding them through a series of extraordinary and improbable events. Her experience is almost unheard of-but often longed for-among the more than 100,000 Chinese children who have been adopted into families in North America.

As an Asian woman born in China but raised in the United States, Ricki embarks upon an emotional journey that ultimately addresses the question of "who am I?" as she navigates the conflicting worlds of two cultures and two families. As the recent Financial Times article says, it is "the kind of story every adopted child surely most wants to hear," but "it's no fairy tale."

The film vividly and viscerally captures intimate encounters between a long-lost daughter and her traumatized family as they seek to find their place in the present while dealing with the fallout of the long-held secrets of their past. A work of captivating drama, RICKI'S PROMISE is a universally relatable and poignant tale of history, conflicts, emotions, and secrets that surround a family's choices as they struggle against a backdrop of culture, politics, gender, and ethics.

Written, Directed, and Produced by Changfu Chang, RICKI'S PROMISE is the grand finale of the director's widely acclaimed film series on international adoption. It is a production that has spanned 6 years and covered two continents by a talented international crew. Ricki Mudd and Director Changfu Chang as well as key members of film crew will be attending the festival and will be available for interviews.
