The Olive Business Association (OBA) held a December 9 meeting to
remember! Joe Hahn, Co-Chairman, opened business by introducing Missouri State Senator Rita
Days. She repeated her offer of any help she can give in Jefferson City to the
Association and its members. The largest attendance
yet welcomed her comments.
The great announcement of the evening came later. Joe Hahn reported that he had a call over the weekend
from Wane Williams Company telling him the long-awaited Olive Link banners were
ready. Printing was complete. As soon as the City, the State and Ameren U.E. have signed their various agreements, 40 banners will be hung along Olive Street
Road. There was happy applause. Ralph Broeker of Royal Bank said the bank will purchase one of the extra banners and display it in front of its building as soon as
possible. Everyone can see what the banners will look
like. Watch for it!

Andrea Riganti of the University City Planning Department told of the City's land use study and street enhancement designs for Olive Street
Road. She talked of the duties of her department and of plans prepared and in
development. She spoke of what the Planning Department has to offer the OBA, including a wealth of data from past studies of the Olive Street Road area,
meant or future development purposes.
There were questions about lighting in Heman Park, especially along Olive Street
Road. Ms. Riganti and Thomas Moton, Assistant City Manager, said they would look into that situation, and that such
a project, in cooperation with Ameren U.E., would take some
time. The need for this lighting as something they had not previously considered.
Bob Wagner, City Councilman, reported that the Council was dealing with several Olive Street Road- related
items. One involved the transport of heavy loads of dirt and debris from the MetroLink construction through parts of U. City, tearing up the streets and spilling
dirt. The Council is trying to stop this.
Congratulations came from Thomas Moton. He let members
know the OBA had accomplished more in one year than any other volunteer organization he had ever
seen. What a great Christmas message that was for the Association.
With this, the Co-Chairman closed the 2003 sessions.
The January 13, 2004 meeting will be held at 6:00 P.M. in the Heman Park Community
Center. Join the Olive Business Association in 2004 and be a part of the action.
