Dr. Yuan-Tseh Lee, President of Academia Sinica, Republic of China, visited St. Louis on 05/17/2000

Awarded by a honorable Science Ph.D. degree by St. Louis Washington University, Dr. Yuan-Tseh Lee visited St. Louis on 05/17/2000.  St. Louis Taiwanese community and Midwest Chinese American Science & Technology Association held a 150 people welcome party at Hunan Garden Chinese restaurant.  Dr. Lee made a speech about how he was involved in the March Taiwan Presidential election in the party.  On May 19, Dr. Lee attended Washington University graduation ceremony and had a speech for all graduation students.  Dr. Lee also met with Dr. Peter Raven, director of the Missouri Botanical Garden.  Dr. Lee flew back to Taiwan on March 21 and missed the new Taiwan President inauguration ceremony.
