Archbishop Desmond Tutu, a man of immense moral authority, has been one of the leading
figures, both in the fight against apartheid in South Africa and the efforts to heal his
country through a process of "truth and reconciliation." In recognition of
his campaign for "truth, freedom and justice" in South Africa, Tutu received the
1984 Nobel Peace Prize.
