The new Missouri SenioRx will help older adults with the rising costs of prescription drugs. Mid-East Area Agency on Aging is currently training volunteers who want to help seniors enroll in the new Missouri SenioRx Program.
The Missouri SenioRx Program provides a discount for low-income seniors with high prescription expenses. Volunteers will help applicants
65 and older complete a short enrollment form and attach income
information to the form.
The SenioRx Program will provide much needed assistance for low-income seniors with hundreds or thousands of dollars in
pharmaceutical expenses. Single persons 65 or older on July 1, 2002,
with total household incomes - including Social Security - of $17,000 or
less may be eligible to enroll in the program.
Married persons 65 and older with total household incomes of $23,000 or less also may be eligible to enroll in the program.
Applicants must have lived in Missouri for the 12 months ending July 1, 2002.
Those who are accepted in the program will pay a small enrollment fee. Once they have met a deductible set by the program, the state of
Missouri will pay 60 percent of their prescription costs to a maximum of
$5,000 in benefits.
(The state may adjust program requirements and eligibility limits in
order to control the program's cost.)
Applications must be postmarked by May 30 (not May 31), 2002.
