St. Louis is a city that has a rich, multi-ethnic heritage and thanks to the untiring efforts of various International organizations within and around our city, greater communication and partnerships are being formed, especially within the Asian-American community. These interactions include the areas of business, education, history & culture, social services and civil rights. However, a political action committee, specifically designed to service the needs of the entire Asian-American community within St. Louis has never been designed for long-term implementation...until now.
The PACIFIC AMERICAN CAMPAIGN COALITION, also known as PACC, was founded by St. Louis entrepreneurs, Francois Ho and Thomas Cy Wong, in April of 2002, in response to the recent success of Asian-American turn-out for President Bush’s March visit ... it was decided that now would be the key time to set up such a group for the community. This specialized coalition will focus on the needs of the Asian-American community in St. Louis. These issues and further questions important to our community, will be raised directly with the current Missouri congressmen and women, local officials and potential candidates. It should be known that this is a bipartisan coalition, which means that we do not favor one political party over another and that we will reach out to all political parties in an effort to bring our community together and to become a stronger voice within our city.
Most larger cities in the United States already have such coalitions in place to support and address the concerns of various ethnic communities. Now is the time for St. Louis, a great multicultural city, to create its own Pacific-American Campaign Coalition that will build strong relationships with local and state government officials so as to support the needs of out own community.
This coalition, comprised of an ever-growing Board of Asian-American business and community leaders, shall have the unique opportunity to work together, speaking with various government leaders so as to have the chance to voice our community concerns to those currently in or running for political office.
What a wonderful prospect of hope and unlimited success for the future of St. Louis'own Asian-American community, not just bridging the Asian communities but working together for a greater good for all within St. Louis. We hope that you will join us.
