Educators and parents looking for a kid-friendly Web site to teach children about the culture, history and geography of the State of Missouri as well as an insight into state government will now be able to access a link on the lieutenant governor's official Web site. As an advisor to the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education on early childhood education, Lt. Gov. Maxwell launched the site to educate Missouri's children on the rich history and culture of their state in a fun and friendly way.
Kid's Page was launched as an interactive, informational tool for students in Missouri and around the nation to learn more about the State of Missouri. The Web site features games, quizzes, virtual tours of the state and an e-mail link for feedback from users. Children can discover the origins of Missouri's different cultural heritages from African Americans to Amish and visit nearly every region of the state at the same time. The Web site also features a link providing Web safety tips to educate kids on protective measures for surfing the Web. Several links to state government sites for educational purposes are provided as well.
"Our children are the future of Missouri and it's our job to educate them on the importance and uniqueness of their surroundings so that they may continue to preserve and respect Missouri's history," Maxwell said.
