The World Affairs Council of St. Louis (WAC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to encouraging international awareness, understanding, and education in both public and private sectors of the community. The Council provides forums for community involvement and debate on international issues and promotes dialogue and cultural exchange between St. Louisans and the world. WAC plans informative events ranging from business breakfasts and formal dinners to wine tastings and academic roundtables. WAC members have the opportunity to meet both professionally and socially with foreign nationals from around the world, and stay informed about the latest global developments in premier international publications with member-discounted subscriptions to several publications.
International Visitor Program
This program promotes St. Louis' viability as an international trade partner by bringing more than 200 professionals from over 80 countries to St. Louis each year. The Visitor Program invites leaders in varying fields to come to St. Louis and meet their U.S. colleagues. Visitors build connections with their American hosts and experience cultural as well as professional aspects of St. Louis.

International Visitors Project
Outreach to Schools
WAC invites international visitors to area schools to speak about their countries and cultures. This program encourages many students to study foreign languages, learn geography, follow world events, and broaden their base of experience. 
Distinguished Speakers Program
Over 40 highly acclaimed speakers are presented annually, featuring diplomats, journalists, and world leaders who explore and discuss a diverse range of global issues. This program offers unique perspectives to St. Louis businesses, schools and communities, providing timely information about topics that are important to St. Louis. Members have the opportunity to meet with international policy makers, practice citizen diplomacy, and make a difference in St. Louis and the world.  
International Forum (IF)
The IF provides a varied program of social and educational events targeted toward young professionals with international experience or interest in global issues. IF members make connections with other professionals in the St. Louis area and around the world, and exchange the information and experience that lead to success on a global scale. 
Community Connections/ Business for Russia
The Community Connections Program (CCP) is the successor of the highly successful Business for Russia Program (BFR) begun in April 1994 as a joint initiative of the US and Russian governments. Sponsored by the United States Information Agency, The World Affairs Council of St. Louis is one of over 40 U.S. host communities, and has already hosted a total of seventeen groups. More than 60 host families and over 200 host businesses and organizations in the Bi-State area hosted BFR participants. BFR/CCP provides an opportunity for local companies to establish direct business contacts with partners in Russia, exchange cultural knowledge, and create personal friendships. St. Louis was recognized by the US Embassy in Moscow as having the "best BFR program in America."
Corporate Membership
Your company can be involved in the World Affairs Council at the corporate level. WAC has several programs that allow St. Louis area companies to meet with international business leaders, build contacts, and share their collective professional expertise.

The Highlights of year 2001 WAC's activities include:
* Ambassadors and other dignitaries visiting from Japan, Singapore, Tanzania, Korea, and Germany.
* 250 International Visitors from 52 countries in the fields of biotechnology, politics, government, media, trade unions and civil rights studying the American system as part of our "citizen diplomat" program.
* 30 Russian entrepreneurs participating in professional internship programs. The World Affairs Council of St. Louis is internationally recognized for its prestigious Community Connections Program.
* Through the International Outreach to Schools Program, we work with area schools to bring international visitors into the classroom to meet with students and share with them the history and culture of their homeland.
