The National Children's Cancer Society (N.C.C.S.) Board of Directors is pleased to announce the addition of Robert Jones and Dr. Carlos A. Perez to the Board of Directors. Both new members are St. Louis area residents.
Robert Jones, Managing Director of Client Development at Firstar in St. Louis, MO, is one of the new members. Mr. Jones brings eighteen years experience in the financial services industry, having held positions in personal trust, private banking and commercial lending. Prior to his position at Firstar, Mr. Jones worked as Private Banking Division Head at Northern Trust Company and as Client Advisory Officer in the Wealth Management Group at Harris Bank in Chicago.
Carlos A. Perez, M.D. works as Chairman of the Department of Radiation Oncology in the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology at Washington University Medical Center. Dr. Perez has held this position since 1976. He served as President of the American Society of Therapeutic Radiation Oncology in 1982 and received the ASTRO Gold Medal in 1992 and the American College of Radiology Gold Medal in 1998. Dr. Perez was a Trustee of the American Board of Radiology from 1985 through 1997. Dr. Perez co-edited Principals and Practice of Radiation Oncology with Dr. Luther Brady, Principals and Practice of Gynecologic Oncology with Dr. William J. Hoskins and Dr. Robert Young, and Radiation Oncology: Management Decisions with Dr. K.S. Clifford Chao and Dr. Luther Brady.
The mission of The National Children's Cancer Society is to provide direct financial assistance to children with cancer and their families for both treatment and supplemental expenses. The N.C.C.S. is the only primary national organization providing direct aid to families of children with cancer. This support makes it possible for critical treatments to begin immediately.
Celebrating its fifteenth year, The National Children's Cancer Society has distributed more than $24 million to help over 9,000 children with cancer in the United States. Through its International Program, the N.C.C.S. immediately distributes donated cancer-fighting drugs and pharmaceutical supplies to children's cancer hospitals and facilities in twenty-two countries.
