Dr. Joshua Chen, CTO of Cybercon.com
By Scanews staff
St. Louis, MO -- June 13, 2002 -- Cybercon.com, a leading provider of
complex server hosting and managed services; today announced it has leased
space in a premier telecom carrier hotel in Newark, New Jersey, just five
minutes from Manhattan. Newark is a major hub in the national fiber optic
networks and 165 Halsey Street in Newark, where Cybercon has leased space,
is one of New Jersey's premiere telecom carrier hotels and the third
largest in the Northeast. More than eighteen major carriers and service
providers with a presence at the site include Sprint, MCI/WorldCom,
Verio, Level 3, Qwest, Williams Communications and Broadwing, among others.
Cybercon chose the Newark, NJ location because of the proximity to New York City and its carrier-neutral status. "Having multiple top-brand Tier
1 backbone providers already in the building allows us to increase our
bandwidth capacity at any time," says Joshua Chen, CTO of Cybercon. "We
are not required to purchase bandwidth from any one particular provider,
and need multiple backbone connections so we can guarantee our customers
100% network uptime."
At a time when other companies are consolidating, contemplating chapter 11, or reducing staff, Cybercon has remained profitable and continues to
grow. "We are expanding into other markets for several reasons," says
Chen. "We need the Newark, NJ space to accommodate the expansion by
existing customers as well as provide expanded disaster recovery, data
backup services, content distribution and redundancy."
Cybercon has had increased revenue every year since it's founding in 1995, and continues to show a profit while expanding its customer base. Cybercon
is a privately funded company, and was ranked 9 out of 150
fastest-growing companies in St. Louis for the year 2002 by the St. Louis Business
Journal. Cybercon is headquartered in St. Louis, MO where it operates a
20,000 square foot data center in another carrier-neutral telecom hotel.
Additional expansion is planned for the West Cost by the end of the year.
Cybercon's long-term goal is to have multiple data centers, not just in
the United States but other countries.
Cybercon is the Internet Service Provider of the St. Louis Chinese American News website - Scanews.com.
