Approximately 350 students and their parents (400 people total) attended Flynn Park Elementary School's Passport Night on March 12, 2002. Students visited booths where students, parents, and teachers shared their information on their countries and cultures. Twenty-six countries were represented. Student "travelers" estimated the length of a sari, had their names written in different languages, tried their hand at various crafts, and sampled foods from around the world. The activities, which incorporated science, social studies, math, and writing, reinforced curriculum taught in the classroom.

The evening also featured a performance by St. Louis Osuwa Taiko (the Japanese Taiko drum ensemble from Washington University), a table on international books from the University City Library, and an International Bank from St. Louis Worldways Children's Museum.
