The branch is St. Louis County Library's 20th branch and the last of 12 branches built with funds from the library's 1973 building tax levy.
The building is named in honor of Samuel C. Sachs, founder of Sachs Electric
Building design was by internationally renowned architect Gyo Obata of ellmuth, Obata and Kassebaum, Inc.
The general contractor for the building's construction was McGrath and Associates.
