J. Justin Meehan recently underwent a traditional disciple ceremony making him a 20th generation lineage descendant of the Chen style of Taijiquan, under Master Zhang Xue Xin and Grand Master Feng Zhiquan of Beijing China.

Mr. Meehan first began studying the Chinese martial arts and expecially Taijiquan in 1967 in New York. In 1981, he traveled to Beijing, China to study the original style of Taijiquan from the world famous teacher Grand Master Feng Zhiqiang. He continued his study in the U.S. under Master Zhang Xue Xin, who is Feng's senior U.S. disciple in the USA residing in San Francisco.
After 20 years of practice, he was formally accepted as a disciple and Chen Style Taijiquan representative. He teaches now in St. Louis and was one of the organizers of the World Tai Chi Day in St. Louis. He was instrumental in getting the Governor of the State of Missouri, Bob Holden and the mayor of St. Louis City to declare the first Saturday of April to be World Tai Chi Day in St. Louis, celebrated at the Missouri Botanical Garden. He is also president of the Taoist Research and Resource Forum.
