The Circus Day Foundation is thrilled to present Far East Meets Midwest, a boundary-crossing, bridge-building, multi-cultural performance using Chinese circus arts, other Asian cultural arts and local St. Louis youth to connect and entertain people in a wonderful way. For this show, the St. Louis Arches youth circus troupe will premier their new Chinese circus arts acts (hoop diving and group bicycling). Also performing as part of the show will be Lion Dancers from the St. Louis Modern Chinese School, St. Louis Osuwa Taiko Drummers, Team Respect from Amanat's Karate Center and Japanese master top-spinner, Hiroshi Tada. The show will be presented in the everydaycircus ring on the third floor of City Museum. Tickets for the show will be $15 in advance and $20 at the door for adults; $9 in advance and $12 at the door for seniors and students; and $8 for children. After the Saturday night show, for an additional $15 per person, guests may attend a reception with the artists, enjoy Asian cuisine and participate in a silent auction and raffle to benefit the Circus Day Foundation.

Circus Day Foundation is the non-profit, educational arm of everydaycircus which is based out of City Museum located at 701 N. 15th Street, Saint Louis, open Wednesday through Sunday. Circus Day Foundation teaches the art of life through circus education. We work to build character and expand community for youth of all ages, cultures, abilities and backgrounds. Through teaching and performance of circus skills, we help people defy gravity, soar with confidence, and leap over social barriers, all at the same time. CDF rings multicultural organizations, teams and individuals together -- and helps keep circus as a performing art alive for the whole St. Louis metro area.
Financial assistance for this project has been provided by the Missouri Arts Council (a state agency), by the Regional Arts Commission and by the Arts and by The Education Council.
