Yang Ruan is a senior at Parkway West High. She has
been holding the first place ranking throughout her high school career, and has done so quite gracefully in what her teacher considers she is in a class of many competitive high achievers and expert learners.
Apart from the classroom Yang is well respected by her classmates. She was truly astounding with her ability to verbalize her ideas, to relate them to the world around her and to enlighten her friends and classmates. Through hard work and dedication Yang has become an example for others to follow.
Yang is the President of Mu Alpha Theta in her high school, Vice President of Science Nights of Beta Chi Pi, Productions Editor of high school literary magazine and a Varsity tennis player.
Yang has received the following awards since 9th grade.
1. Great St. Louis Science Fair: Blue Ribbon
2. 2001 Excellence in Math at Forest Park: Individual Div II 4th place.
3. 2002 GPML: Individual 5th place.
4. Yale book award.
5. Community Service Award from St. Louis Chinese Language School.
Yang has a delightful sense of humor and good nature. She is unpretentious, sincere, genuinely determined to do well, to believe in what she does and to be the best person she can be.
Yang reactivated the Young OCA St. Louis Chapter this year and is serving as the current president. She is good at motivating members and organizing a group to work on projects to serve the community.
We consider Yang to be a true leader in her high school and our community. We believe she will continue to excel at the college level and we look forward to hearing of her future successes.
