Kids Can Cook Too!

FCC children recently enjoyed a Chinese cooking class taught by master chef, Theresa Liu. Because the adult class this summer was such a success, parents asked for a similar class to be taught to their children.

Overwhelming response required Theresa to teach two separate classes (at Dierberg's in Creve Coeur) of budding young chefs how to prepare pot stickers and fried rice. These items are all-time favorites of so many children and teaching how to cook them proved to be a big hit. The children attentively watched as Theresa cracked eggs, worked her magic in the wok, and told humorous stories. I don't think I've ever gotten my daughter to sit still that long at home! Perhaps that's because I can't flip rice in a wok like Theresa did that day.

During the class, the children discovered that filling their pot stickers was as fun as eating their fried rice, hot off the wok. The rice was good to the last grain!

Theresa, author of Fairy Tale Soup, is in the process of writing a second book. She teaches cooking classes at the Kitchen Conservatory in Clayton and at Dierberg's on Tesson Ferry Road. Theresa also offers private cooking classes and can be hired for private parties.
