Dear Editor:
During this season of Thanksgiving, the American Red Cross would like to thank the community for its support - the donors and volunteers who give generously of their time, money, energy, and spirit. Thank you for supporting the Red Cross mission to help the community prevent, prepare for, and respond to disasters and emergencies, while also providing a safe and adequate blood supply.
The Red Cross depends on the generosity of the American people - and since 1917, St. Louisans have been especially generous in their support of the Red Cross. The 13,000 dedicated volunteers who give of their time and talents whenever they are called upon, the generous financial donors who directly impact the community by supporting the vast array of Red Cross services, and the faithful blood donors who personally give of themselves to save the life of someone they may never meet, are the reason the Red Cross was able to touch our community 370,000 times last year.
Because of you, the Red Cross is able to instruct thousands of citizens in life saving CPR and First Aid courses, send countless messages to members of the Armed Forces, provide disaster relief to hundreds of families who have lost everything, and regularly sponsor blood drives to meet the need for blood in the St. Louis area and around the country.
To each of you who have helped in your own special way, thank you.
Best regards for a safe and healthy Thanksgiving holiday,
